Apply

To apply to the BCMP Scholars Program at Harvard Medical School, follow these steps:

  1. Eligibility: Ensure you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and eligible to work in the U.S. Outstanding students from foreign institutions can apply with prior approval.

  2. Application Portal: Visit the BCMP Scholars Program application page to access the application form.

  3. Required Documents:

    • Cover Letter: Limited to one page, detailing your educational background, past research experience, and the specific laboratory or group you are interested in.

    • Resume: Include your academic and research experiences.

    • Reference Letters: One or two reference letters, with at least one from someone familiar with your laboratory work.

  4. Submission: Complete the online application form and upload the required documents.

  5. Deadlines: Applications are considered between December and April for the upcoming summer. Notifications are sent on a rolling basis.

  6. Program Details: The program typically starts on the first Monday in June and lasts for 10 weeks. Students receive a stipend and participate in various research and seminar activities.

Please note that our department is committed to diversity and inclusion efforts and supports additional internships with the Summer Honors Undergraduate Research Program. All SHURP students who work in BCMP laboratories are cross-appointed as BCMP Scholars. To apply to SHURP please visit their website.

 

Please review all the information provided on this website carefully, and if you have additional questions please include them in the cover letter with your application (we have very limited capacity to respond to email inquiries). If your application is selected for a follow-up interview you will have an opportunity to ask additional questions. The BCMP summer internship program is coordinated by Profs. Piotr Sliz and Stephen Buratowski and by Yolima Lantigua. Approvals for the international students can be requested by contacting us by e-mail. Approved students will be notified typically within 2-4 weeks.

 

Harvard Medical School is located in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston, Massachusetts. This area is a major hub for medical and academic institutions, including several of Harvard's affiliated hospitals and research centers. The campus is accessible via Longwood Avenue, at the intersection of Avenue Louis Pasteur. It's well-connected by public transportation, making it convenient for students, faculty, and visitors.
